SCHISM 2/9/08 Ram’s Head Live Baltimore, Maryland

On Saturday, February 9, 2008, the touring show called “Titans of Tribute” made a stop in Baltimore at Ram’s Head Live!. The premise of this show was to showcase four cover bands that payed tribute to Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine and Tool.

I actually got to the venue a little late and only caught the tail end of the Nirvana tribute act. Although they looked NOTHING like the Nirvana members, their music was dead on, they sounded good, and I enjoyed what I heard.

The next act up was the Rage Against the Machine tribute and as Chelsea commented, seeing this band made you realize just how much all of Rage Against the Machine’s stuff really does sound alike...overall, they were ok.

The Third band on the bill was the Alice in Chains cover band, and to tell you the truth, this band I REALLY enjoyed. I wasn’t here to cover the opening bands, I was here to cover SCHISM, the Tool Tribute band, BUT, the Alice in Chains cover band really entertained me simply because they did decent covers...they looked nothing like AIC, but they played well!

The band I was there to see, SCHISM, didn’t let the crowd down..they came out under the cover of darkness, with a huge movie screen in the backdrop that played trippy images, while the bands singer was in the background on a mini stage, covered in blue face paint just like Tool’s own Maynard actually does onstage! The bands guitarist Keith is the obvious star of the show and he really has his Tool guitar licks down pact. Overall, the band is very impressive..if you closed your eyes and ignored little differences in things, you would honestly believe you were listening to Tool..Schism is that good! Schism played almost EVERY Tool song you’d wanna hear, “Prison Sex” was the song that I think they just brought things home with, but every song they played, they definitely owned, & if you like Tool, you have to check these guys out!
