V by Siamese Dream

Siamese Dream's V

The opener is reminiscent of early Weezer. A musical story of childhood. Layers a plenty including vocals and guitar are stacked together on purpose. This creates that warm feeling of nostalgia. Near to blues track number three talks about everyone's favorite subject: drugs. The rest of the album takes you traveling through a charming world of grunge guitar and lovely vocals. Although some songs drop some of the good vibes and energy the album does a good job of building up.Broken into a Side A and a Side B the album seems to be, in reality, three different parts.Track five does a good job of bringing you into the crazy world of Siamese Dream. It gets a little messy but the lyrics shine through. They are honest with no pretentious prose or formatting.

Side B is a more uniformed sound. The first track (track seven) is a life story of, what else, but growing up. The chorus is unique as in it strips most of the instruments leaving stagnant strumming guitar and yearning vocals. This song alone is particular impressive as the song crescendos into a smashing string sound. The eighth song takes you on another journey down a more psychedelic street. The songs that follow are much more mellow and lend themselves to folk guitar than their previous. As songs individually it is great, but the album is a tad schizophrenic.
