John Brazile @ The 13th Floor

With lyrics like, “Clothes are fading to filthy rags/Yes it’s really been that bad/Say hello brand new college grad," Brazile makes eye opening points and shows he’s mature beyond his years.

Where: The 13th Floor

When: Saurday night, August 16, 9PM

The 23-year-old singer-songwriter from Massachusetts, John Brazile performs this upcoming Saturday night, August 16, at The 13th Floor, bringing with him the soul and energy of grassroots American life. Brazile began his music endeavors in high school, releasing four CDs since then. Commencement, his latest release, was recorded and produced by Brazile in his own home and is available for purchase on his website. An admirable feat, since the quality of the recording is incredibly clean and crisp.

Brazile is a regular in the Boston and New York City music scene, and is making his first show stop in Baltimore.
Some of Brazile’s influences range from Ryan Adams to John Mellencamp and even Neil Young. It was Young's 1972 release Harvest that "indirectly motivated Commencement," Brazile points out, which is quite evident in his ballad "When They Go" –a blend of sweet melodies and the emotional story of moving on. The Bluesy “My Life’s Work” is a self-reflective, John Cougar style gritty groove hoisting the concerns of the working man. With lyrics like, “Clothes are fading to filthy rags/Yes it’s really been that bad/Say hello brand new college grad," Brazile makes eye opening points and shows he’s mature beyond his years.

John Brazile will make his first appearance in Baltimore’s13th Floor at the Belvedere Hotel on August 16. He’ll be joined by Baltimore’s own JV Myka Project, who will actually play Brazile’s set with him. Also on the ticket for that evening is Philadelphia’s Midnight Bottle Club, whose lead singer Erik Berta is from Baltimore and is making this a homecoming of sorts. MBC is looking forward to getting reacquainted with Balto very quickly with their edgy, slick rock and roll.

As of late, Saturday nights at the 13th Floor have been known for Latin music, but on this occasion it will be Blues, Funk and Rock and Roll by three very impressive acts. John Brazile and JV Myka Project will join forces again on September 11th in New York City’s Kenny’s Castaways. The following night, September 12, JVMP and Midnight Bottle Club will join forces in Philadelphia’s Dawson’s Street Pub. Catch all three together at the 13th Floor this upcoming Saturday night. The door cover is only $5, enjoy some drinks at one of the finest music venues in all of Charm City. Great music, great scenery, and don’t forget to get your copy of John Brazile’s Commencement.
