Fall Back Plan's CD Release Party Rocks!

fallback plan 1

FALLBACK PLAN 2.1.08 Fletcher’s Baltimore, MD

Band Members: Donice - Vocals; Brian - Guitar; Ken - Drums; Geoff - Bass

Fallback Plan are an interesting new rock band, recently burst onto the Baltimore music scene with a fun mix of pop energy, hard rock rhythms and even a touch of funk at times, BUT, very little that you’d even notice, and the core of the bands sound is power-pop rock and there’s no denying that the bands singer, Donice, has one of the most powerful singing voices in the area...her vocals could honestly be used in total pop songs, but she chooses to sing with a band that has a harder edge, and that’s what REALLY sets the band apart from any other rock band in this area!

On February 1, 2008, the band released their first CD and threw a release party at Fletcher’s in Fells Point, & I was really surprised by the amount of people that came out to see the band celebrate the release of their debut CD! The opening bands all had a nice crowd, but when Fallback Plan took the stage, the room was packed, it was standing room only, & the band played a really tight hour long set that even included a new song that didn’t even have a title, that was not on the new CD!

Donice strutted across the stage with a sexy demeanor, in a short shirt and fishnets, while the band held down the tempo’s of the music with passion and power! At one point Donice made a funny comment that you could tell where her family and friends where in the crowd, because they were the only black people in the crowd..that was actually NOT true though, because there was a diverse crowd there to see the band and I like the fact that Donice has a unique stage presence where she will joke, laugh, smile, and say things to get the crowd going, but when it comes to her her singing, it’s totally serious, full on, and there’s no games at all! Ken and Geoff might be easily overlooked when you see the bands live show, because Donice is easily the focal point, but these 2 guys really anchor the rhythm of the band and guitarist Brian keeps the rock riffs flowing as well.

Honestly, at time, the Baltimore music scene can get a little stale and stagnant ... what I mean is, there’s not a lot of diversity at this point..it honestly seems like all the truly interesting, creative, and “different” bands that break the mold of your typical band, have all but gone away, so when I see Fallback Plan playing live, it’s really refreshing to see, hear and experience something new, fresh and different than what you will normally see when you are checking out the Baltimore music scene! Fallback Plan is a band that’s got sex appeal, rock ethics, and a lust for their craft, all wrapped into their own unique genre that’s a mix of rock/pop and seriously, they are just a breath of fresh air to the scene!
