Burn The Fields - "Tearin' It Up @ Angel's"

BURN THE FIELDS

6/19/08

Angel's Rock Bar

Baltimore, Maryland

If you're familiar with Angel's Rock Bar, you probably know it's the ONLY real rock club in the Power Plant area of downtown Baltimore, & on a Thursday night, the best thing happening in Baltimore is clearly the Thursday night line-up at Angel's! Thursday nights feature dj-ing by Supernik from Burn the Fields & music freak Sean of the Dead...they take turns spinning the best selection of cutting edge, new hard rock mixed with load's o' classic hard rock, punk & metal as well. Supernik used to be the resident DJ @ Angel's every weekend & in all honesty, he's still missed there on weekends, which have changed significantly since he's left the weekend shift!

On June 19, Burn the Field's headlined Angel's during their live music night & the interesting thing about this show was that it was literally thrown together last minute & I heard about it literally a week before hand! If you've never seen Burn The Fields, let me do my best to explain their music...they have a slight prog metal element & there's some dazzling guitar licks, they have a slight punk/hardcore vibe, & then there's a realy melodic side with killer rhythm...my best way of saying it is, Burn The Fields is the most indescribable rock band on the Baltimore music scene & that's definitley a good thing, because you can't just lump them in with any one rock genre!

I really dug the way the band set the stage for their opening number...the lights were dim, they had a smoke machine blowin' out fog that gave the band a really cool stage presence/look, & for the crowd in attendance, they got their faces ripped off by the band! If you looked at the opposite direction from where the band was playing, on the large video screen, they played Burn the Field's new music video which features some cool looking suspension action, & what I really think works well for Burn the Fields is, The bands singer, Keith, brings that melodic element, Supernik brings the punk/hardcore side, Judah brings the intricate guitar solo's & Dan & Jeremy hold down the entire package with a solid foundation!

By the time Burn the Fields were done I was thinking to myself, wow, their set was soooo short, I want more, BUT, you know what, that's the true sign of a really good show, when you can see the entire set, it flies by really fast & you are left thinking, man, I can't wait to see more from these guys! I've seen Burn The Fields many times live & this was definitley one of their tightest shows EVER!
