Artscape is this weekend, and it seems to get better every year. The Oranges Band play the Saturn Stage at 5PM on Friday, and Baltimore's own Joan Jett takes the stage at 8:30. On Saturday, Thrushes play the Metro Gallery at 3 PM and Gary B & The Notions play the Saturn Stage at 4. On Sunday, The Jennifers play the Metro Gallery bright and early at 1 PM, followed by The Payola Reserve at 4. Lots more will grace the stages throughout the three days, so take a look at the schedule and decide when you'll be heading to Mount Vernon for the fun.
Catching more buzz from the music scenesters, Whartscape is going down, too. The overexposed Wham City crew has really got their stuff together and has a great lineup of their own (in fact, better than Artscape) kicking off Thursday at 5:30 at the Charles Theater. With all the nationwide attention this group has brought to Baltimore, kids from all over might just be descending on this little adventure. Bands include Arbouretum, Teeth Mountain (who are pulling double duty with an Artscape set, too), Beach House (read a review of their latest here), Oxes, The Death Set, Eyeball Skeleton, Ecstatic Sunshine, Celebration, Ponytail, Double Dagger, Dan Deacon, Cex, and gazillions more.
