Ultra Naté knows house music. And she knows what she wants. Born just outside Baltimore, Ultra began her music career full-force early on and signed her first recording contract with Warner Brothers. Impressive. But before long, the label tried to take her music in another direction, toward a more R&B sound.
Knowing she had to make a move, Ultra then signed with independent dance label Strictly Rhythm, recording several songs that made it to the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Hot 100 Dance/Party chart, a few of which you may remember, especially if you were a part of the dance scene in the late 90s–early 2000s: “Show Me,” “Found a Cure,” “Desire,” “Get It Up (The Feeling).”
For 2006, we expect to be impressed once again. Ultra Naté’s new album Grime, Silk and Thunder is set to make its debut sometime this fall, though the lucky ones may have been able to get a sneak listen to the profound Love is the Only Drug this summer.
