The Dictionary gives every word a standard definition, but in real life everything isn't always "by the book" & easy to define & Maryland based rockers Burn The Fields are a prime example of that, because on a musical front, they possess elements of metal, rock, hardcore & there's a very melodic side to the band, there's slick guitar licks, yet there's also simple aggression & artistic expressions that make Burn The Fields one of the more popular bands on the Maryland Music scene!

Burn The Fields opened for re-formed national act COLD on March 21, 2009 at the Recher Theatre in Towson, & this was actually the first show I've seen in the newly remodeled Recher Theatre....what they basically did was, they made the stage much larger by taking speaker columns that used to adorn both sides of the stage & they dung them from the ceiling. This makes the main stage much larger at The Recher, it allows everyone to have a good view of the artists on stage, & in my personal opinion, the sound is even better now than it was before, because in the past, if you stood too close to the speakers on either side of the stage, the overall volume coming from those speakers would kill your ears, but now with the speakers over-head, there's a sweeter sound throughout the venue, the stage is much larger, & it makes the room look alot bigger as well!

So shortly after doors opened, Burn The Fields took the stage for a short, but crushing set that included 6 songs, one of which was a brand new song the band recently wrote!

The set list was as follows:

Start Within, The Lie, Next To Fall, Temp Fix, Crossed Off, Alibi

The interesting thing about seeing Burn The Fields on a larger stage is, on the stage left you had Supernik, who's known as a crazy player on stage, he bangs the hell out of himself, his gear & his guitar, a broken string, limited stage space, etc., it doesn't hinder the man from bringing his A-game to every show!

On Stage right you have lead guitarist Judah who's fast guitar solo's & at times almost prog styled riffs counterbalance the hysteria that Supernik creates on the adjacent side of the stage...it's actually an interesting stage show to watch from a distance, because you have 2 completely different styled players on each end of the stage, & in the middle you have the rhythm section that holds it all into place & Keith's dark vocals nail down the bands distinct, yet hard to categorize sound.

Burn The Fields set was far too short, but they rocked the crowd hard & even though they had to deal with what every opener deals with...limited sound, limited stage space, no production, etc., etc., Burn The Fields played a great set, they did what they do best & they made alot o' new fans this particular night!
