Not enough can be written about one of the most talented musicians in the state of Maryland. Eric Scott has shared the stage with the likes of BB King, James Brown, Little Feat, Aaron Neville, and the Deana Bogart Band. Notoriety and subsequent accolades has brought legitimacy to his musicianship, but it is in his solo efforts that his true musical significance can be appreciated. Eric’s stirring blends of blues, funk, and poetry are eloquently evident in his richly lacquered album Red, recently released in 2007 and nominated for 3 Wammie Awards.

Eric Scott has received praise from The Washington Post, had his music featured on the hit TV shows “Felicity” and the DVD Season 1 release of “WKRP in Cincinnati,” and received an Honorable Mention in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. These are not coincidences or the result of luck. They are resume highlights of a man with flair, groove, and soul. Eric delivers compelling lyrics, alluring melodies, harmonies, and inventiveness. Working with Baltimore’s finest artists (in the studio) has solidified a well polished, bona fide album with genuine songs and intrinsic messages.

These are not coincidences or the result of luck. They are resume highlights of a man with flair, groove, and soul.

Eric asserts his take on the world while emphasizing the importance of love, as well as dealing with the tribulations of his life, which often mirrors the consensus of many. It’s the conviction in his lyrics and powerful expression that make songs like “These Are the Craziest of Times” and “Outside My Window” reality checks. And there is the pop groovy track, “I’m Into You,” which brings the quintessence of a man to light.

It’s the start of a new year, and Eric Scott will be performing at various venues in Baltimore and beyond, like The Austin Grill in Rockville on Jan 11th and the College of Southern Maryland in La Plata on April 5th. Catch a glimpse of the man, listen to his soulful voice, and have a moment of perspective. Eric performs small venues as well as the big stages, but either way you will discover he is not a complicated puzzle. In fact, his down to earth personality and candidness makes his live show a must see. You may call his music soul/pop/funk, but ultimately you will call it excellent. Eric Scott's CD Red is available on CD Baby and his website www.ericscottmusic.com
