Here is a little more about the five bands:
Squaaks, the band created in an art school dorm room, is headlining the SĒN Baltimore Local Music Spotlight Saturday July 12 2008 at Creative Alliance. The band combines a pop music style with harder rock guitar riffs that blends into a very cool sound. They have been compared stylistically to the Kinks, T. Rex, and even Nirvana. Their unique style will definitely provide the event with a great headlining band and you won’t want to leave before experiencing them play live. Impossible Hair is a group made up of equal parts Baltimore and Washington DC. They say about their sound: “The songs are short, hooky, and a little odd.” For more about Impossible Hair, go to http://www.myspace.com/impossiblehair
Gary Barrett has been the lead man for Gary B and the Notions for over four years now. Their energetic performances are meant to be seen and heard live. When you do experience them playing live, it is impossible not to feel energized by their dynamic-pop sound. For more about Gary B and the Notions, visit http://www.myspace.com/garybandthenotions
"You can feel the beat, enjoy the music and let it tap into your soul. Should you seek "deeper" meaning, look closely..." That is a quote from the JV Myka Project about their outlook on music in general and in relation to their music specifically. Their deep viewpoint is mirrored by their sound which is elaborate but mellow, and creates a great rhythm in each case. While their sound is elaborate, their lyrics are deep and cause a thought-provoking experience for the listener. For more about the JV Myka Project, go to http://www.myspace.com/jvmykamusic
"It is said by some that beautiful music brings the angels near; a manifestation of the heavens." Says Deborah Bilezikian, better know as Teporah. Her musical style is centered around historical artistry and incorporates a blend of Middle Eastern, Armenian, and rock music. She is an accomplished pianist, with a style that ranges from soft to bluesy and jazz sounding. With her wide range of ability, Teporah is bound to catch your attention and will display a wide range of musical ability. For more about Teporah, check out her website at http://www.teporah.com/
