"Nature and Geometry: New Works by Michael Marshall, David Peterson and Brendan Murphy" is the inaugural exhibition at the newly re-formed Definition Gallery, which is a product of a merger between Foundation One Gallery (Atlanta, GA) and DB5K Gallery (Baltimore, MD). This exhibit features three nationally acclaimed artists whose work analyzes and re-interprets the increasingly complex relationship between humans, and our connection to the environment in a quickly changing modern world.

Michale Marshall's haunting and atmospheric photographs are compiled into three distinct series or observations of the human connection to place. Sprit Places is compiled of platinum prints exploring the experience of place and the impressions of memory. Natural Histories are color images exploring the boundary between scientific documentation of nature and personal experiences. Third View is a collaborative exploration and documentation of the impact humans have made on the United States landscape. For this project, Marshall revisits locations originally documented by the expeditionary photographers of the 19th century and again during the Rephotographic Survey Project of the 1970's.

David Peterson finds order in his visual and auditory observations of the physical world by reducing the elements in order to contrast a state of entropy with a predetermined structural order that is based on the principles of design and architecture. His multi layer paintings of acrylic and resin on wood are stunning with internal shadows constantly altered by the light and environment they are viewed in. Peterson currently resides and creates in Atlanta, GA.

Brendan Murphy fuses dynamic experiences and color comprehension with juxtaposed geometrics, script, formulas and iconography, notably sensual female silhouettes, Murphy delivers a unique synthesis of energy & character. Combining amazing colors & Swarovski crystals, his paintings are made of crisp and have amazing depth. Murphy currently resides in Watermill, NY and works from his SoHo studio.
