Fells Point, Maryland

For anyone who’s not familiar with Maryland, Fell’s Point is definitely one of the major hot spots for the night life in Maryland, & on the weekends it’s totally insane down there! The area has a bit of a rustic look, there’s cobblestone roads that actually serve to make drivers slow down some since there’s hoards of people everywhere, & the scenic waterfront that adorns most of the area adds a subtle beauty to the drunken debauchery that usually follows the majority of the patrons in the area. If you’re into bar hopping, there’s LOADS of bars & restaurants, but this particular night, after I spent 15 minutes to find a parking spot, I was in the area to check out A Freudian Slip at Fletcher’s. Fletcher’s is an interesting 2 story club...the upstairs is where the bands play & the downstairs is the bar area with pool tables, big screen tv’s, & don’t let the place fool you..it may look small, but it holds a fair amount of people!
Agents of the Sun opened for aFREUDIANSLIP , & this was actually my first time checking the band out & I have to admit that these guys impressed me! The band is a mix of metal & hardcore with melody, they have a twin guitar attack, & the crowd was totally into their set! The band played for about 45 minutes give or take, & their set was killer...no downtime, no ballads, just good hard rock & I definitely wanna check these guys out again for sure!
aFREUDIANSLIP were the headliner’s for the evening & for a local band, I’m amazed at what a loyal fan following they have! When the band took the stage, the lights dimmed, the smoke machine was in full effect, & the light show started..between the lights flashing & the smoke, the stage looked like a battlefield at times, & guitarist Dan Douglass was shredding riff after riff, while the rhythm section kept everything together, & singer Billy Fisher owned the stage, high fiving fans, chugging Jack Daniels, & I have to add that Billy smiles throughout most of the bands set, which is pretty cool, because it shows that he’s enjoying the show & having fun....when a band is having fun it’s obvious, & aFREUDIANSLIP were totally on this night for sure! The band played a little over an hour & if these guys don’t get signed to a major label soon I will be shocked, because this is a band that’s at the top of the game & I can’t stress enough, that they just rock with a passion & fury that reminds me of “Vulgar Display of Power” era Pantera...it’s simply amazing! After the show I said a few words to the band & I got a pic of Dan after the show which is with this review...it’s really interesting to see how the band has developed & grown, because I saw them a few years back & they were like alot of other metal bands, & now they’ve grown into this thing that’s totally their own creation & it’s definitely powerful & strong because when the band plays, they pour every ounce of energy into their live show & they just kick ass live! After the show ended, the entire band hung out downstairs at Fletcher’s till they made us all leave at 2 AM & if you didn’t know any better, you would have sworn that the show last night was from a national band that’s toured the world 2 times over..it was that good!
