After being dropped from the "Double Up" tour after only two dates , Ne-Yo has filed a lawsuit against R. Kelly in Los Angeles Superior Court alleging breach of contract and violation of the right of publicity. The suit claims Ne-Yo suffered damages by turning down other tour opportunities and spending substantial sums in preparation for the Double Up tour, and that Ne-Yo was terminated because of "the audience's and critics' more favorable reaction to [Ne-Yo] than the reaction to R. Kelly."

In a press release, a spokesperson from the Kells camp denies the allegation that Kelly had anything to do with the cut, saying "The idea that R. Kelly had anything to do with Ne-Yo being dropped from the Double Up tour is just plain silly."
