Smashing Pumpkins Sue Virgin Records

Billy Corgan

In an unsurprising new development, Smashing Pumpkins have filed suit in Los Angeles Superior Court against Virgin Records, claiming the label used the band's name without permission in promotional deals with Pepsi and Amazon and thereby harmed the band's credibility and threatens their reputation for "artistic integrity." To punish the label, the band has asked the court to grant an injunction against using the Pumpkins' name or music in the future and to require Virgin to hand over any profits earned from the promotion.

Harm the band's credibility, threaten their reputation for artistic integrity? Didn't that happen with Zeitgeist? Or maybe touring without Iha?

Careful, they might sue you too for compromising their "artistic" free-flowing thought processes.
