My Email to Live Nation Regarding The Radiohead Debacle

"I am one of the hundreds, if not thousands, of fans who missed out on Sunday's show due to weather and traffic. While I appreciate your statement that "While we have no control over Mother Nature, we certainly are disappointed that some fans did not make it to the venue" (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/12/AR2008051202484.html), I take issue with the implicit notion that it was a very small yet vocal minority that did not make it inside the venue before the show ended. Rather, by my eyewitness account, it was a substantial amount of ticket holders left in traffic and in the rain.

My car full of ticket holders left Baltimore at 5:30 PM, expecting that in the worst case we would arrive by 8:30, rather than the normal 90-120 minute drive one can expect from Baltimore to Bristow, Virginia. Instead, we did not even get within eyesight of the venue before 10:30, and when as we spent 5 hours in gridlocked traffic, moving quite literally about one mile per hour, we realized that we had wasted a significant amount of money and were been subjected to one of the most frustrating nights of our lives. Worse, I have been made aware of many situations where ticket holders were turned away at the gates after braving the traffic and weather.

I attend many Live Nation shows each year. As a dedicated customer to Nissan Pavilion and other Live Nation venues, I could humbly ask for a refund and be confident that your company would politely decline. I expect, however, that Live Nation is being barraged with emails from other frustrated concert-goers voicing the same concerns. I beseech you, Live Nation, to consider the goodwill that your organization will lose if you do not consider some remedy. Regardless of your lack of control over the weather (which your customers are also unable to control), you do have control over customer satisfaction and ensuring that those who attend your venue can feel that Live Nation hears their concerns and is willing to listen and work to protect the name that Live Nation enjoys in the live entertainment business.

With the above in mind, I ask you to consider refunding my four tickets, which I am happy to scan and/or fax and provide to you as proof of purchase. In an effort to encourage others to contact Live Nation with their own account of their experiences on Sunday, I have posted a copy of this email to the following link: http://www.senbaltimore.com/blogs/agt/my-email-to-live-nation-regarding-the-radiohead-de.shtml.  If you wish to speak with me, please call me at (XXX) XXX-XXXX.

Regards,"

Can we get together and sue Nissan Pavilion and LiveNation?
