Colin Stetson, a multi-instrumental jazz musician, debuts a full-length today.
For a popular music writer, speaking the language of jazz can be very difficult. Which is why Colin Stetson is such a joy to listen to and try to share with an audience. Blending saxophones, French horn, flute, and clarinet, Stetson creates an angular sound, pondering the beauty in using just a few notes to create highly emotional, intense music that has led him to share the stage and record with contemporary acts such as Arcade Fire, Tom Waits, and even Burning Spear.
Stetson's first full-length, New History Warfare Vol. 1 (Aagoo Records), is out today. Another Stetson release, Slow Descent, is available as well.
Stetson will be playing in Philadelphia on March 15 at the Gershmann Y. Borowsky Gallery.
