I missed their show at Ottobar on October 6, but San Antonio's Girl In A Coma have made my list of bands to see. Signed to rock stalwart Joan Jett's Blackheart Records, the trio consists of Mexican-American sisters Nina and Phanie Diaz and their friend, Jenn Alva. 

I just listened to the single, "El Monte", and it's a stripped-down version of the trio's otherwise indie-punk sound. Singer Nina Diaz has a country twang that is inescapably going to grab you and make you fall in love. Don't make the same mistake I did and miss these ladies. Pick up their album, Trio B.C., rapido.
