No big surprise here, but Kevin Cogill of the blog Antiquiet was arraigned today in a California federal court after being arrested yesterday for allegedly (he's not proven guilty yet, kids) violating federal copyright laws by leaking nine tracks from the long-awaited Chinese Democracy which, if it ever comes out, better be the best album ever made. Reports indicate the album fans have been waiting to hear for ten years has already cost at least $13 million to create.
Cogill was released on a $10,000 signature bond on the condition he not leave the district before his preliminary hearing on September 17. Let this be a warning to bloggers who leak tracks without permission: you actually can be arrested. And when the songs you're leaking are worth about $1.5 million each, the label will be whacking you with a huge civil suit if you're found guilty.
